What is Nagpur Metro Phase 2?

Nagpur Metro Phase 2 extends the existing Orange and Aqua lines by about 43.8 km with 32 stations, at an estimated cost of about ₹6,708 crore. The four extensions run south to Butibori MIDC, north to Kanhan, west to Hingna and east to Transport Nagar. The foundation stone was laid on 11 December 2022.

When will Phase 2 open?

The official target was 2026, but as of late 2025 trackers estimated completion around the end of 2028. Civil and system contracts were awarded in stages, with rolling stock bids invited in March 2025. Funding includes an ADB loan of USD 200 million approved in July 2024.

Which parts matter for south-west Nagpur?

  • Khapri to Butibori runs along Wardha Road past MIHAN and Jamtha, strengthening the southern growth corridor.
  • Lokmanya Nagar to Hingna extends the Aqua Line deeper into Hingna, towards Hingna MIDC and the college belt.

HoABL Nagpur Marina at Mondha is on the Outer Ring Road, between these two corridors. Neither extension reaches the site directly; Khapri station on Wardha Road is about 12 to 14 km away by road today.

What should a land buyer take from this?

Metro lines tend to lift demand near stations, but timelines slip. Value areas on what is running today, and treat Phase 2 as upside you are not paying for. Distinguish operating stations from planned ones in any project's marketing.
